Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) – a network of organizations at the United Nations (UN) to develop solutions that contribute to sustainable development, was launched in 2012 by the UN Secretary General and aims to mobilize scientific and technical potential of academia, civil society and private sector for solving problems with transitioning to sustainable development at the local, national and global levels.

The network includes universities, research centers, public organizations that work in the area of sustainable development. The network is focused on non-profit activities. SDSN national offices operate in more than 90 countries, bringing together more than 2,000 organizations. SDSN works with different UN agencies and other international organizations.

NOSU and SDSN

In Russia, the SDSN National office is located in the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), based on the Center for Economic Modeling of Energy and Ecology (link).

NOSU is a regional center for interaction between SDSN and higher education institutions of North Caucasus Federal District and the Southern Federal District. As a regional center, NOSU promotes the work of SDSN among universities to enhance activities and promote project activities in the field of sustainable development.

NOSU collaborates with SDSN in the following directions:

  • SDSN SDG Academy – to provide students and staff of NOSU with access to online courses, research and projects of educational and scientific organizations around the world; as well as to launch a project-oriented educational course on Sustainable Development Goals (link).
  • SDSN Youth – for development of volunteer and project activities among students in the field of sustainable development (link).
