The Preparatory Office for Foreign Citizens at NOSU (henceforth the preparatory course) offers services to prepare foreign citizens and persons without citizenship – who have completed their full secondary education and are in possession of the necessary documents to prove it (i.e. qualification, certificate, diploma) – to receive higher education at a Russian tertiary institution. (Concerning the requirements for foreign education documents, please, refer to the Main Expert Center of the Federal State Budget Institution’s website https://www.nic.gov.ru/, click on the Acceptance Procedure tab.) Our preparatory course provides prospective students who do not know any Russian or who do not have enough knowledge of Russian to acquire the necessary language skills in order to enroll in a bachelor, specialization, master, internship or PhD program of their choice.

Our study programs adhere to all the requirements of additional public education and enable foreign citizens and persons without citizenship to master professional academic programs in Russian (according to Decree 03.10.2014 No. 1304 from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation). The preparatory course for foreign citizens and persons without citizenship is a full-time on campus program.

The preparatory course for foreign citizens and persons without citizenship consists of the following options according to their interests and planned study field:

  • Humanities – Russian language, social studies, history, literature.

  • Natural Science – Russian language, mathematics, physics, chemistry, geography.

  • Technology and Engineering – Russian language, mathematics, physics, computer studies and information.

  • Economics – Russian language, general knowledge, history, mathematics.

  • Medicine and Biology – Russian language, chemistry, biology, physics.

The standard duration of the preparatory course is nine (9) months. Lectures commence on 15 September. There is an option to follow an intensified program (lasting from 6 – 7 months).

Foreign applicants need to supply ALL of the following documents:

  • An application form (provided by the department and filled in by the foreign applicant on arrival).

  • Proof of full secondary education, listing the subjects taken and marks achieved. (The original document with a notary certified Russian translation is compulsory. The translation is checked by the Russian notary office or consulate of the Russian Federation in the country where the document of education was issued).

  • Proof of acknowledgement of the foreign government’s document pertaining to the level of education and (or) qualifications, issued by the Federal Education and Science Control Service of Russia (in the absence of an international agreement of mutual acceptance of education documents).   • A national passport (with a compulsory notary certified Russian translation. The translation is checked by the Russian notary office or consulate of the Russian Federation in the country where the passport was issued), an entry visa, a migration card.

  • A medical certificate.

  • Proof the applicant has tested negative for HIV.

  • Six (6) photos size 3cm x 4cm.

Enrollment for the preparatory course for the 2019/2020 academic year ends on 1 November 2019.
