North Ossetia State University in honour of K. L. Khetagurov entered the unique NICA collider collaboration.  This is one of six megascience format projects in Russia. More than 30 countries are part of this international science collaboration. The NICA ion acceleration complex is based at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) in Dubne and studies the fundamental properties of matter. Scientists plan to recreate the state of matter in a laboratory as it was in the universe at the first moments after the Big Bang.

Scientists from NOSU are able to conduct research in material sciences, medicine and fascicular therapy, radiobiology and electronics. It is also able to join  the Roscosmos research program, which focuses on utilizing radioactive waste, finding safe new energy sources as well as developing cryogenic technology.

“This collaboration provides the broadest possible spectrum of research possibilities. Here we have scientists from Europe, Asia and America to participate in experiments.  Our academic staff have already begun working on it. This is a milestone in the development of science in North Ossetia” the rector of NOSU, Alan Ogoev, announced.

Just a reminder that the university is actively developing cooperation with the famous scientific center JINR. Cooperation between the universities are being established in the field of radiation biology, proton therapy and ecology. Students and lecturers  of NOSU are currently  undergoing internship at Dubne. The opening of a joint education program directed at the preparation of “the physics of elementary particles” is in the pipeline. This fall the first Information Centre of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Reseach came into operation.
