At the initiative of the NOSU Centre for Sustainable Development an educational course “Project development in the area of sustainability” has been introduced into the NOSU educational programmes in 2020-2021 academic year. Theoretical part of the course will also be available online on the platform developed by a NOSU partner university Universidad Isabel 1 (Spain) based on the agreement in collaboration signed during a NOSU visit to Spain in 2019. Online course will be available in 3 languages (Russian, English, and Spanish) both for NOSU students and anyone interested from outside the University. The UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), of which NOSU is an Affiliate Member since 2019, will also provide support to the NOSU in disseminating the course among universities and organisations around the world on its electronic resources.
Theoretical part of the course, which will be available online as “Sustainable Development and Images of the Future”, consists of 7 units accompanied by video lectures, and covers such topics as “History of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs)”, “Images of the future in UN SDGs”, “Detailed look into social, economic and ecological UN SDGs” and “Partnerships between the state, business and civil society in realization of the UN SDGs”. The course will also have information support of the UNWTO, of which the NOSU is an Affiliate Member since 2019, on their electronic resources in order to disseminate information about the course among universities and organisations around the world. Furthermore, at the moment the NOSU Centre for Sustainable Development is negotiating the details of collaboration in developing the course with Russian Green Movement “EKA”.
Online course will go on for 3,5 months, will be launched online on the platform developed by Universidad Isabel 1, NOSU partner university in Spain, and will be available in Russian, English, and Spanish languages both in free access and with an option to earn a verified certificate.
Full course “Project Development in the Area of Sustainability” for the NOSU students will be available to 2d and 3d years of bachelor’s and 1st year of master’s students. Projects will be aimed at solving social, ecological, and economic problems and can be realized both in the NOSU and the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania.
The UN SDGs are a set of 17 global goals designed to be a blueprint to achieve a better and more ecologically, socially and economically sustainable future for everybody.
Centre for Sustainable Development of the NOSU was launched in March 2020 in order to continue the work of the NOSU in sustainability, effectively started by a team of volunteers “Eco-movement SANSARA” in 2019, on a larger scale.
