On Russia’s Student Day an agreement was signed to open a regional branch of the International Students Association (ISA) at North Ossetia State University. This new organization assists international students to adapt easier to life in North Ossetia.

“Opening a branch of the Association at our university is the first of its kind in the Republic. It will enable cultural and social exchange between young Russian and overseas students, which makes participation in this project extremely important to North Ossetian universities” NOSU’s rector, Alan Ogoyev, announced.

The agreement foresees recruiting international applicants to study at the university, organizing excursions to acquaint foreign students with some of the historical and cultural traditions of North Ossetia as well as providing them with legal and emotional support. Foreign students took the initiative to create the International Students Association a few years ago and the Russian Ministry of Education and Science supported them.

According to Adu Yao Nikez, the president of ISA, foreign students studying at tertiary institutions in Vladikavkaz are able to openly share their problems with ISA.

“This morning an agreement was signed with NOSU which will determine our future mutual cooperation. The agreement makes room for combined events, broadening cooperation and developing student life in Vladikavkaz,” he said.

Adu Yao Nikez met with international students studying at higher education institutions in Vladikavkaz. The different interested parties discussed their most pressing questions which include daily challenges, issues with migration and finding work. The vice rector of external relations and development at NOSU, Alan Uadati, challenged the foreign students to openly and confidently approach him about their difficulties. NOSU undertakes to meet with international students on a regular basis.
